Ben Franklin to Invest $135,000 In Regional Economic Development Monday, May 23rd, 2011

The Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s (BFTP/NEP) Board of Directors approved the investment of $135,000 in support of regional economic development. Ben Franklin TechVentures LEED: Water-Efficient Landscaping Friday, May 20th, 2011

Water-Efficient Landscaping Ben Franklin TechVentures2 was designed and constructed using the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Rating System. This standard promotes sustainability in building design, construction, and operation. To address LEED’s landscaping measure, the landscape around the building features native, drought-tolerant, and non-invasive trees, shrubs, and grasses. These plantings eliminate the need for an irrigation system, minimize the need for fertilizer and pesticides, and establish a supportive ecosystem for birds and other urban wildlife.
