Ben Franklin Client Micro Interventional Devices Preps for 2013 EU Launch For Transapical Access Device

Structural heart disease firm Micro Interventional Devices Inc. hopes to gain a CE mark and launch its clinical stage Permaseal transmyocardial access and closure device in Europe by the second half of 2013, with a focus on use for big-ticket transapical transcatheter aortic valve replacement procedures.

Permaseal, which the company calls the first transapical access device to enable true self-sealing, sutureless cardiac access and closure, is designed for a range of structural heart repair procedures including mitral valve repair, left ventricular assist device placement and valvuloplasty.
