Develop a blood test for the detection of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), a precursor to liver fibrosis and cirrhosis resulting from non-alcoholic/non-viral causes, usually obesity. The current method to diagnose NASH requires an invasive liver biopsy. Evaluate lead candidate markers in liver and blood RNA and serum and derive an algorithm for a panel test. HepGen is the first Ben Franklin-funded spinout from Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
