BFTP/NEP takes calculated risks by investing in early-stage companies that could not secure seed funding through conventional means. We also assist young, unproven firms as they prepare to raise additional capital and provide an important initial endorsement for a new company.

We make investments that typically range from $30,000 to $150,000 per year for up to three years. Each company in the Ben Franklin portfolio benefits from the collective experience of seasoned in-house professionals, complemented by Ben Franklin’s extensive Solutions Network of advisers, service providers and investors. This creates a powerful and comprehensive support program for clients.

Selection is competitive and is based upon many factors, including the company’s ability to create and/or retain highly paid, sustainable jobs in northeastern Pennsylvania. To qualify, your company must be:

• A manufacturing firm or technology company offering significant potential for future growth through the development or application of an innovative technology. Retail and service companies are not eligible.
• Located in, or relocate to, northeastern Pennsylvania. The region served by BFTP/NEP includes 21 counties (Berks, Bradford, Carbon, Columbia, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lycoming, Monroe, Montour, Northampton, Northumberland, Pike, Schuylkill, Snyder, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, Wayne and Wyoming counties). If your company is located elsewhere in the state, we can refer you to another Ben Franklin center.
