Software Consulting Services, LLC

Martha Cichelli, PhD,  founded Software Consulting Services (SCS) in 1975 and was joined by her husband, Richard, in 1983. Richard brought newspaper technology and expertise to SCS from the American Newspaper Publishers Association. SCS then became the very first Ben Franklin business incubator client in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

In 1996, SCS received the Ben Franklin Incubator Graduate of the Year award. SCS’s roster of newspapers and media clients continues to grow, and now includes installations in more than 250 organizations that together publish approximately 1,500 products. SCS serves major newspaper groups including Tribune (owner of The Morning Call), Advance (owner of the Express-Times), Gannett, Lee Enterprises, and the largest newspapers in Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay,  and others, totaling 19 countries. SCS is the longest surviving newspaper prepress vendor under the same ownership and management. The company has expanded beyond newspapers with digital asset and color management applications sold to the Ford Foundation, Hewlett Packard, Lee Enterprises, Lubrizol, the San Francisco Ballet, the White House Historical Association, and others.
