Personal protective equipment is essential for healthcare workers fighting the coronavirus. But it’s been in short supply. Ben Franklin client Applied Separations, Inc., Allentown, is trying to help by cleaning it so it can be used again. The firm is baking the PPE in laboratory ovens at 250 degrees Fahrenheit for 90 minutes, low enough to not destroy the PPE, but hot enough to kill the virus. The company does not guarantee sterility. The PPE is then donated to first responders free-of-charge. The business is hoping to inspire other companies to do the same. Via WFMZ-TV69
