Ben Franklin Appoints Angelo J. Valletta as President and Chief Operating Officer

The Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania (BFTP/NEP) Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Angelo J. Valletta as President and Chief Operating Officer. Valletta will succeed R. Chadwick Paul, Jr., who will retire on March 31, 2021. In his new role, Valletta will have full operating responsibilities for the Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Valletta is a multiple award-winning senior business executive with comprehensive organizational leadership experience in areas including operations, technology, and P&L. He has held positions of increasing responsibility in the financial services, information technology, and human services sectors.

Most recently, he was President and CEO of an independent community foundation, where he led business growth in all functional areas including development, operations, finance, human resources, and marketing/branding. He interfaced with the board to manage compliance/regulatory and business reputation.

Prior to that, he served as Northeast Managing Director, Business Development and Strategy for a global financial technology organization, where he led the region’s multi-million dollar business unit in functions including strategy, business development, human resources, technology, operations, and executive management for 100 partner institutions. Regional revenue grew by a factor of 12 during his tenure. He also chaired the supervisory committee for the board of directors of EagleOne Federal Credit Union, overseeing business, mergers and acquisitions, risk/audit oversight, strategic planning, operational efficiencies, and growth initiatives.

Before that, Valletta was Senior Vice President and US Chief Information Officer for EVO Payments International; Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for SUN National Bank; and Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for MRM/Legion Insurance Company. Valletta started his career at PNC Financial Services, advancing to Vice President/Market IT Services Manager.

Valletta has earned many awards for professional excellence and community service. Recognitions include Red Cross of Eastern PA, Anita Lockwood Leadership Award; Temple University Alumni Diamond Excellence Award; Bank Systems and Technology Elite 8; Smart CXO Magazine Top 10; Computerworld Premier 100 Elite IT Leader Award; and CIO of the Week by TechTarget/SearchCIO.com. He currently serves on the Eastern PA Red Cross Board of Directors; on the Temple and Columbia Universities mentoring program committee; and as the founder of the Louis A. Valletta Endowment at Temple University.

Valletta is the published author of several book chapters, articles, and white papers on topics including IT cost reduction, continuity strategy, and cloud security best practices. He has served as a featured speaker and panelist for numerous conferences and executive summits.

Valletta earned an MBA in Management from Philadelphia University and a BBA in Computer Information Systems from Temple University. He also holds Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and Project Management Professional certifications. Valletta lives in the Greater Philadelphia area with his wife, and plans to relocate to the Lehigh Valley.
