Ben Franklin’s investments in early-stage firms range from $35,000 to $500,000 per round, with an average of $180,000 per company in our current portfolio. Our approach involves taking calculated risks in emerging companies, facilitating the journey towards further financial rounds and providing an essential early endorsement.
While we frequently invest at terms set by other lead investors, our initial investments are often structured as a loan with warrants. Terms include:
- An eight-year term, with interest payment obligations beginning after the first year.
- Quarterly interest-only payments with a balloon payment for the principal and any unpaid interest at term end.
- Detachable warrants with the pricing of the warrants based on a predetermined valuation.
- The pricing of the warrants is based on a predetermined valuation. Being included in the Ben Franklin portfolio is highly regarded across a wide network of follow-on investors, including angel investors, venture capitalists, and institutional investors.
