Freshpet Posts Strong Second Quarter

Specialty pet-food maker Freshpet Inc. earlier this year launched its “Feed the Growth” strategy. That plan got off to a good start when the company announced second-quarter results that satisfied Wall Street’s appetite. Freshpet, which makes its refrigerated, vitamin-packed dog and cat food in the Lehigh Valley, posted net sales in the second quarter of about $40 million, up 21 percent from $33 million in the year-earlier period.
