BFTP Job Opportunity: Regional Manager, Greater Lehigh Valley

The Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania (BFTP) invites applications for the position of Regional Manager, Greater Lehigh Valley. The successful candidate will lead and direct BFTP’s entrepreneurial and advanced manufacturing activities in the Greater Lehigh Valley region (Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe and Northampton counties). The Regional Manager will establish and maintain contact with innovative business owners, industry groups, economic development community leaders, organizations, and educational institutions. Leading and working with these partners, the Greater Lehigh Valley Regional Manager will deliver BFTP’s services and serve as our lead contact in supporting our mission in the innovation economy of the region.

Major Responsibilities:

-Identify and support the development of start-up and early-stage technology-based firms for potential BFTP-NEP investment.

-Identify and support the development of innovative manufacturing firms for potential BFTP-NEP investment.

 -Working within the BFTP Portfolio Group, manage client projects through our funding process:

  • Evaluate each client’s business, product, or process
  • Determine potential level of regional job impact
  • Support each client through the funding approval process
  • Supervise project activity
  • Evaluate and support each client’s progress and performance
  • Manage client’s loan and interest payments

 –Develop and implement programs and projects to facilitate economic development efforts on behalf of BFTP and in support of our partners in the Lehigh Valley.

 –Establish and maintain contact with entrepreneurial and manufacturing ecosystem leaders.

-Identify and develop resources at educational institutions.

-Develop relationships in the investor and business support network in the Lehigh Valley and beyond.

-Prepare reports as necessary.

-Perform other duties as assigned.


-Master of Business Administration degree or related field with a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing industry experience, or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field with 5-10 years of experience with manufacturing and engineering industries.

-Strong interpersonal, organizational, listening, and communication skills.

-Prior experience in the following areas is a plus:

  • Managing multiple clients or projects
  • Interacting with economic development and community development entities
  • Working with colleges and universities

-Occasional regional travel is required.
